What Are the Different Types of Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is available either in-office or for at-home use.
In-Office Teeth Whitening
This type of whitening procedure is performed in the dental office. An in-office whitening session usually lasts for about an hour. The patient is provided with a protective shield and a light sedative to reduce any discomfort during the procedure. The dentist applies the whitening gel on the tooth surface, leaves it on for about 15 minutes, and then rinses it off with water. The process is repeated until the desired shade is achieved.
At-Home Teeth Whitening
For this type of treatment, the dentist will take impressions of your teeth so that customized trays can be made for you to wear at home. You should wear these trays twice daily for 15 minutes each time for one week. Your teeth will become whiter and shinier within two weeks or so.
