What Are Dental Crowns?
Dental crowns are caps that restore a tooth's shape, size, and strength when it is too weak for a filling or has significant damage. Dental crowns can also be used for cosmetic purposes to change the appearance of a tooth or to cover a discolored or stained tooth. The crown completely covers the visible portion of the tooth.
Crowns are typically made of porcelain, which is the material most similar to natural teeth. Porcelain crowns are customizable to match your existing teeth.
What Are Dental Bridges?
A dental bridge is a prosthetic device made up of false teeth connected to dental crowns on either side. It is used when the patient has a gap caused by one or multiple missing teeth, thereby restoring both the function and aesthetics of the smile. A dental bridge is generally made from porcelain fused with metal and is cemented in place by our dentist. The false teeth fill in the gaps between existing teeth, while dental crowns are placed on either side to hold them in place.
